Devised with a group of untrained dancers, this piece examines the relationship between private and the public choreographies. With an emphasis on quotidian gestures, we reveal and teach one another our private rituals, frustrations, disruptions, and revelations as a communal offering; and, ultimately, we are each made to feel less alone, finding a way forward From Here.
FROM HERE [Performance Highlights]
From Here (ReadyMaids 2017) Co-Directed by Anna Muselmann and Rachael Cleveland Performed by ReadyMaids + Ensemble Pro Arts Gallery, Oakland, CA; pril 7, 2017.
CLOCK/WORK, the second chapter of BREAD (2016), is a ReadyMaids project made in collaboration with Ari Rodriguez that explores social synchronization and the partitioning of time. Framed by the seven-day week, which, unlike the day, month, or year, has no circadian or biorhythmic derivation, this work emphasizes the week as a culturally perpetuated structure aimed at regulating social behavior and labor. Keeping time through the repetition and accumulation of breath and gesture cycles, CLOCK/WORK interrogates the ways we perpetuate and/or subvert temporal tyranny, physically.

BREAD is an accumulative performance structured around the seven-day-week and the fantasy, tyranny, and mundanity of making time.
Mind Your Business (2016)
This piece uses musical elements—refrain, syncopation, verse, counterpoint-- to reflect on the exhaustion of the modern workplace. Through the repetition ad nauseum of the physical lyrics, the exhausted body becomes increasingly percussive and audible, inflecting the material with an emotional valence of anxiety and anticipation. It is an exploration in the aesthetics and acoustics of exhaustion.
